Healthy Gums

A healthy mouth is essential for good general health, so we recommend that you take the best possible care of your gums. To do this, we recommend prevention, diagnosis and treatment of various diseases of the periodontium (supporting tissues that surround the teeth).

Stages of Periodontal Disease

  • Gingivitis – Localized or generalized inflammation characterized by inflammation of the gums with bleeding but without affecting the bone.
  • Periodontitis – In addition to gingivitis, it is accompanied by bone loss that supports the tooth. If treated promptly, you may lose one or more teeth.

Causes of Periodontal Disease

  • Accumulation of bacterial plaque due to poor brushing and/or poor hygiene habits. POOR ORAL HYGIENE;
  • Genetic Predisposition – Even though we know that the main reason is bacteria that attack the tooth support tissues, genetics is also a factor that interferes greatly.

Smoking

It is also largely responsible for poor oral health as it is a vasoconstrictor, thus impairing the irrigation of the tooth support tissues.

Periodontal Treatment
Instructions:

  • We have the responsibility and duty to inform each patient of what is most advisable.
  • We teach correct oral hygiene techniques to control bacterial plaque and eliminate aggravating factors.
  • In gingivitis, good tooth brushing with the correct technique is enough to improve the general condition of the gums, as well as the use of dental floss. In periodontitis, we have several phases of evaluation and treatment in several stages, from the removal of bacterial plaque from the periodontal pocket to corrective and/or regenerative periodontal surgery. For periodontal disease, we are equipped with the best clinical and surgical techniques in the most severe cases of the disease.
